At a National Grid site in Waltham Abbey, Enfield, a substation maintenance company faced a difficult access challenge. MEWPs and telehandlers needed to move across a loose gravel surface, but overhead transmission lines hung unusually low across the area. Using cranes or heavy lifting gear to install ground protection mats was ruled out due to health and safety risks.
