A Surrey-based landscaping contractor, specialising in full-service landscaping for the housebuilding industry, approached GroundGuards for support on a new estate development.
Their scope of work included everything from building eye-catching show home gardens to landscaping individual plots and creating communal spaces such as play areas and sports facilities. However, a major obstacle stood in their way.
A large section of the site had been built using plastic cellular pavers with a gravel infill. While suitable for light traffic, these surfaces were at risk of damage from repeated movements of 8-wheel tipper lorries required for the landscaping works. With the estate under development for several weeks, the team needed a way to protect the pavers while allowing HGV access.
The GroundGuards Solution: Fast and Effective Surface Protection
GroundGuards recommended EnviroMat, a robust ground protection mat manufactured from a premium grade of 100% recycled high density polyethylene.
Each mat measures three metres by one metre, which is larger than the more traditional 2.4 metre by 1.2 metre size. This allowed a full three-metre-wide track to be installed, which perfectly suited the heavy goods vehicles involved and ensured the paver surface remained covered and always protected.
EnviroMat offered excellent strength and coverage, while its clean and consistent appearance helped maintain a tidy and professional site environment.

The client was extremely pleased with the outcome. The mats were installed quickly, provided complete protection for the paved area, and helped the landscaping team work efficiently throughout the project.
With no visible damage to the surface once the mats were removed, the contractor could complete their work without delay and to the high standard expected on a housebuilding site.
